There are no requirements for recovery. Anyone, regardless of race, gender, marital status, or any other factor, can recovery. The 12 step rooms are known for their adage that the only requirement for recovery is a desire to stop using or drinking. This statement is based in truth. All you have is each new day that you wake up. You can’t recovery for tomorrow, you can only recovery one day at a time.

Perhaps you wonder if your addiction was too severe to recover. The answer to that question is an emphatic no. You are not gone too far. Addiction is not stronger than recovery. Anyone, regardless of how long they used or how deep the addiction ran is exempt from the opportunity for a fresh start.

If you have been to treatment before and relapsed, you may feel that recovery just doesn’t work for you. Nothing could be further from the truth. What you learned in prior treatment experiences are still valid and helpful. Previous experiences in treatment aren’t discredited if you relapse.
