Now that you are sober and you are actually making some productive progress in your life, you may be questioning what it is that you are actually doing. Finding your purpose in life may be in the forefront of your mind and you may find that you are unsure what that means.

Having a purpose for yourself means that you are being enlightened on your time here on earth in the most profound way. Often people who are searching for their purpose give up before they ever find what they are meant to do because this course can be difficult to discern. In recovery, finding a purpose can be even more difficult since so much change is happening causing confusion as to what that light at the end of the tunnel truly means.

First things first

To find a purpose with a career or within relationships, your main focus has to be on your sobriety first and foremost. If you are not sober, your mind is not clear enough to make the decisions and take the actions that you need to determine what your purpose in recovery is. After the fog lifts after cessation and you start working on yourself in your program, you will begin to have the self-confidence and the conviction to become anything you want to be.

Live and let live

Once you start moving in the right direction towards your recovery, your purpose most likely will be revealed over time. That intuition that you get about what you are supposed to be doing now that you are sober will be the motivating factor that you will put your attention towards your purpose. Instead of pleasing others, you will be doing something selfless that will please your own self-esteem.

Easy does it

If you are unsure of what your purpose is at first, do not stress. Let time affirm what your goal is meant to be without having to incite anxiety before you are ready to comprehend your purpose. Acquire what you need to learn along the way so you can be prepared for what you are eventually going to do.

Finding your purpose is extremely important because it will give you the answer to your existence. When you find what you are looking for in life, the purpose you are searching for will organically present itself and make everything else fall into place.
