The Importance of Long-Term Addiction Treatment

We know that recovery is not something that you accomplish in a day and then are just finished with. Recovery is a lifelong journey that you must choose and work toward every single day. At The Kimberly Center, we recognize this fact, which is why we offer long-term addiction treatment.

It is important to continue to put in the work to protect your sobriety. This should be done not only during the early stages of treatment but all the time. Even someone who has been sober for decades still needs to remain dedicated to their recovery journey. Long-term addiction treatment ensures that you stay on track and are prepared to handle obstacles along the way.

Why Long-Term Addiction Treatment Is Necessary

When you first complete your inpatient or outpatient treatment program, you’re probably going to be feeling pretty confident in your recovery. Everything you have learned is still fresh on your mind, and you’re likely feeling pretty hopeful about the future. You’ve taken the big first step and you’re probably feeling rather proud of yourself. Now you can finally become the best version of yourself.

But consider what could happen down the road. Recovery is a journey that comes with peaks and valleys. It’s not always going to be easy; challenges will arise and you must be prepared to handle them. Long-term addiction treatment helps ensure that you will be ready.

Consider how you have handled negative emotions or stress in the past. Maybe you turned to drugs or alcohol instead of confronting the problem head-on. Or maybe you’ve tried to ignore the problem completely, only for your mental health to begin to suffer as a result. Part of recovery is learning how to handle stress and obstacles in a productive way.

Stress management is one of the many skills you will learn through long-term addiction treatment. You’ll also learn how to regulate your emotions, communicate more effectively, and be more organized. All of these things will help strengthen your sobriety and help you to continue to become the best version of yourself.

What Long-Term Addiction Treatment Looks Like

What long-term addiction treatment may look like can vary from facility to facility and may be dependent upon a client’s unique needs. At The Kimberly Center, we want our clients to live a life free from addiction. We help them to accomplish this by encouraging them to look within themselves and find their own inner strength. You are capable of a lot more than you realize, and we want to help you to recognize this.

Our treatment facility offers both individual and group therapy as well as 12-Step support group meetings. At our facility, we believe that peer support plays a very important role in the recovery journey. Through 12-Step support group meetings, you have the opportunity to be surrounded by people who can relate to and understand just what you’re going through.

This is not to say that you can’t also get also receive support from your family and friends that are not in recovery. However, they might not be able to offer you the same sort of advice and guidance that those who have experienced this before can. In addition, when you attend a 12-Step support group meeting, you will know that you will be greeted without any judgment or ridicule. Everything you say is intended to be kept confidential.

Understanding Sober Living Facilities

At The Kimberly Center, we offer a treatment option called sober living. This is for clients who have already completed an inpatient or outpatient treatment program but are not yet at the point of feeling confident enough to return to their everyday life. This is a great option to make the transition to normal living a lot more smooth. With this option, you’ll be able to take a job or attend school, all while continuing to live at our facility.

Drugs or alcohol are absolutely not permitted at our sober living facility. This can help remove temptations and allow you to ease back into everyday living. One of the most useful aspects of sober living is that you have a lot of resources all under one roof. You’ll still have the support of your peers and our staff, as well as access to individual and group therapy, 12-Step support group meetings, and other programs that will help you to continue to learn and evolve.

We know that pushing a client out of treatment and into the world before they are ready can be very detrimental. It can essentially set a client up for failure and increase the likelihood that they relapse. This is why we offer sober living as an option. It helps ensure that you are fully confident in your sobriety and feel ready to embark on your new sober life.

A lot of people falsely believe that once you have gone through addiction treatment, you’re all done. They think that they’ve accomplished what they need to do and that the process is over. In reality, you are never finished with your recovery journey. You have to continue to choose it each and every day. This is why long-term addiction treatment is so important and why we prioritize it at The Kimberly Center. At our facility, we have helped many clients take back their lives from addiction. We can help you, too, and we can start right away. Call us at (855) 452-3683 today to learn more about how we can support you.
