The springtime is a welcomed season after a period of long and freezing winter weather. Springtime is a season that offers warmer climates and more sunshine that is inviting to enjoy nature in all its glory. Springtime is a wonderful time to reflect back on why you got sober in the first place because there are so many reasons to stay sober during this gorgeous season.

Rebirth

As the seeds are planted in nature, there is a renewal that takes place during the springtime that can be identified with the amazing transformation that takes place in sobriety. Like a butterfly that starts out as a caterpillar and then transcends into a beautiful butterfly, recovery is just like that. The springtime makes it clear that your recovery is a gift that keeps growing into something more alluring with dedication and time.

Fresh start

If you just got sober, you can use this time to make a clean break from the past. The spring is known for cleaning out the house from the olden days as a way to cleanse the house after being cooped all winter and keeping as much heat inside with the assistance of a smoky and dirty furnace. In the spirit of spring cleaning, this could mean you could cleanse your insides for the first time or go even deeper the next time you work your steps or continue with extensive therapy work.

Get active

The spring allows for people to get outside and become more active with the pleasant weather. You can see individuals out and about bike riding, walking, and skateboarding with their dogs once again. This is a good indication for you to take a page from those who are getting physically active and take some for spiritual action in your program. Try new meetings, sponsor others, take a new commitment, or do your steps again. Continuing to find ways to stay connected to your program will no doubt make a huge difference in how you feel.

Springtime signals a time of new beginnings and making growth more attractive to the eye. The same could be said of you going to any lengths to stay sober because whether you are newly sober or have been sober for a while, you can unfasten your old ideas and start anew with ones that coincide with where you are in your recovery right now. Taking time to smell the roses will lead you to enjoy your sobriety that much more.
